Isaiah 30:18 (ESV)
Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
What kind of load should I carry?
If the peace of God is my portion.
A surrendered life is what God wants.
A life bounded towards heaven.
I asked, “How do I live?”
Yes, that’s important.
But also crucial to ask, “How to die?”
For death, it is imminent.
When I find peace,
Thinking of death;
That’s the assurance
I have found rest.
If I’ve been spared
When this wave pass me over,
It’s not time for me
To indulge in worldly pleasure.
How do I want to die –
Will depend on how I live now.
There is no formula,
Solemnly, on my knees, I bow.
I pick up my cross
And follow Jesus Christ.

God is just. Yet he is gracious and merciful. The verse shows us justice needs to complete its task while God will rise to show us compassion as we wait on him. Blessings will follow. While we return and repent, praise and pray, remember any of us is vulnerable to this viral threat. Perhaps you are thinking what a morbid thought to think of death! Shake yourself to reality – you and I could be the casualty. However, Jesus is our peace. Whether we survive this threat unharmed, or fall prey to it, ask: How will I live now, and henceforth? And also, “How do I die?”
“O Just and Gracious God, lead us to a victorious living and a dignified death. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
