Hebrews 10:23-24 New International Version (NIV)
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
Jesus Christ. The power of the Cross. His Blood. The Word of God. They remain constant and consistent. In such time of uncertainty, what a comfort to know our hope is unchanging. As long
as we hold fast (to grip with steady gait, and not let go) of the hope we have in Jesus Christ, we shall experience his faithful promises. He never fails.
What do we need to do?
1. Confess our hope. Go to the scriptures and declare his promises. Decree them to be fulfilled.
2. Call unto the name of Jesus Christ who saves, heals, forgives and deliver.
3. Cleanse and cover with his precious blood – yourself, your family/friends, community, city, country and also, the world.
4. Consider how we may stir/spur each other on – means to motivate, mobilize each other; to encourage and empower one another. For? To love and render acts of kindness. Good works/deeds are essentials in a community. However, it remains a sweet, commendable social action without an eternal purpose. Verse 24 is enriched when we implement verse 23. Verse 23
is crucial to implement verse 24 with explosiveness.
May these two short scriptures be our deep reflection in the days, weeks, months to come as we face a global crisis. Let us also ask for spiritual discernment on what is, after this wave
subside? This will give us revelation on why we do what we do now.
“Father in Heaven, we thank you always for your precious and powerful word. We come together as your people called by your name uniting our hearts to pray for the world, for our own
nation; holding fast to our confession in Christ. We firm ourselves in our grip and stand as children of God towards your word and your promised presence. Teach us to be mindful of one
another’s needs and be empowered to be your mouthpiece, hands and feet in such a time like this. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
