Psalms 27:14 (ESV)
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Covid-19 arrived unannounced,
Sweeping across the borders.
Casualties and deaths pronounced,
Exposing a generation of hoarders.
Headlines in global news warn –
This virulent strain spread like wildfire.
Chaos and confusion begin to run,
Sounding an international dire.
Never in our generation we witness,
The threat of such pandemic.
A strength we have not harness,
Like the generations of past relic!
Have we lost our values?
And reduced to subjects of apathy?
A world with a vast vacuum,
Of compassion, instead rebellion against authourity.
“Why do I care?
If someone is dead.
Why should I be in despair?
Even, if this is a pandemic plague.”
Despair – we shall not be!
However, an inventory of attitude,
To be checked with the will given to be free.
Selfish acts…or deep gratitude?
The world has conquered together,
Many disasters and pandemics.
Sober mind and vigilance gardner,
A collective strength so authentic.
While some are indifferent
Thankfully, many still care.
Applause to all resisting this fierce current,
Toiling, cooperating for the global welfare.
Together, we shall prevail,
With cries of mercy unto God.
Whatever the consequences entail…
I pray – we’ll be a better human squad.
The psalmist charged us to “wait for the Lord“. He said it twice in one brief verse. Waiting denotes a time factor. It is not immediate, which contradicts with our human nature. We need to command our inner man to be disciplined, to be strong, “take heart” – trust God’s heart, judgement and timing. Waiting is beautiful when we wait with God. Waiting strengthen us.
“Heavenly Father, your love endures forever. We wait for you, for your deliverance from Covid-19. We declare this waiting season will lead to a stronger faith in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
